Re: AD9364 Tx monitor gain settings

Thank you for your reply.

I still do not understand how to set the gains correctly and which gain switches when the threshold is crossed. The UG-570 Tx power monitor gain control section (pages 58-60) contains some unclear points, such as -

1. Text from page 58 - "Receive low-pass filter gain, GBBF, is set by register values Tx Mon Low Gain and Tx Mon High Gain (Register 0x067 [D4:D0] and Register 0x068 [D4:D0], respectively). These values set the receive low-pass filter gain index in the 0 dB to 24 dB range.".

Question - what is this 24dB range ? Or should it be 30dB, as mentioned in Figure 31 and Table 41 on the same page ?

2. Text from page 60 - "Below the threshold Tx Mon gain is 0 dB and GBBF is 0 dB. Above the threshold Tx Mon gain is 9.5 dB and GBBF is 0 dB.".

Question - is Tx Mon Gain changed automatically by the AD9361 ? The UG-570 only mentions automatic setting for the GBBF gain (which is done between the high and low gain setting, registers 0x67 and 0x68).

I also have one more question about the correct way to enable the TPM for our application. The AD9361 is configured to operate in TDD mode (controlled by SPI writes, not pin control) and we want to monitor the Tx power during the transmit slots. Do we need to activate the TPM before the ENSM moves to Tx state ? Or after that, during the actual Tx time-slot ? Is setting bits D5 and D7 in 0x6E enough to turn on the TPM, or do we have to set D5 and D6 in 0x01 too ? Also, do we need to set bits D2 and D3 in 0x57 every time we want to power down the TPM, or we can disable TPM by simply clearing D5 and D7 in 0x6E ?

Thanks and best regards,

Oleg C.
