Hello:
I had a customer ask me if they needed to run a TIA485 driver/receiver pair or a transceiver or can they just connect the output of their microcontroller's UART to the 485 network? I have done quite a bit of research and find a good answer. I did see that the voltage levels ont the 485 lines are -7V to +12V so I would think that one function would be to boost the voltage for that output. But is that correct or are their other reasons?
Any help on this would be most appreciated.
